October 30. Luke ch 4-6
DO NOT BOAST
[13] Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” [14] Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. [15] Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” [16] But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.
James 4:13-16 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: How so much we make boasts and plans without God in the picture! Both good and evil plans especially in areas where we have some power, we don’t consider God at all. How merciful God is that He makes our plans to succeed many times without any hitches. This is why man has taken God for granted and they have taken Him out of the equation of life and living. The danger in boasting of what we can or will do is we self destroy ourselves. Jesus told the story of a rich man in the gospel of Luke. “And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive. And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’ So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.””
Luke 12:16-21 NASB1995. Whoever and wherever you are, never boast of what you can do. Factor God into your reasoning and talking and doing.
Today’s exercise: be conscious of your reasoning and talking and actions. Bring God into your life.
PRAY: Dear God, forgive me of times I had discountenance You in my life. Please help me to be conscious of You in my thoughts, words and actions.
