HOW TO LOVE MYSELF
The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”. Mark 12:31 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: When I asked the Lord why there is so little love in the world, He said it is because people don’t know how to love themselves as a person. You cannot love your neighbor more than you love yourself so when a person doesn’t love himself, he cannot love another person.
Now how do I love myself?
First, I must be kind to myself. You ask, how will I not be kind to myself? When you think about negative things concerning yourself because of what you experience with your five senses, you are unkind to yourself. If the thoughts of people were exposed, the kind of thing we will see people thinking concerning themselves will be terrifying. When you load yourself more than you can carry, you are unkind to yourself. You expect too much from yourself and become frustrated when all your super efforts fail, then you become unkind to yourself feeling uncontested and unfulfilled. Sometimes you feel so ashamed you cannot lift up your head. You are unkind to yourself. Next, when you are inpatient with yourself, you are not loving yourself. It is good to have goals but it is good and expedient that you be patient with yourself in pursuing the goal. Appreciate every stride, thank God for it. Remember that the first step in a journey does not land you in your destination, it only takes you closer. Take it easy on yourself.
Mark you, all these are your inward life. Our bodies know how to cry fowl when you don’t love it but the mind takes in so much lack of love because nobody else sees it and it does not give us physical pain like the body does.
When you love yourself, you don’t inflate or brag about your importance in your mind. When you do and others show you that you are not as important as you think, it hurts deeply. Think about these things and see if you love yourself. We shall look into the second part of this tomorrow.
PRAY:Dear Lord, when You finished making me, You said that I am very good. Help me to see myself as good and love myself no matter what my strength and weakness are.
