HOW DO AND CAN I LOVE YOU?
Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.

GOOD DAY. A young man wrote to me for counsel and prayer about how to love his wife. He said he has done everything he knows how to do to show her his love but nothing seems to satisfy her. Sometimes ago, I asked my ex husband the same question after doing all I knew a woman could do to tell her husband she loves him. I have also said to a friend that he doesn’t love me and his reply was ‘I don’t mouth love I do love. Check my actions and see if I love you.’ Today, I ask you ‘how do I love you?’ I may be asking you on behalf of a friend, your child, your wife, your neighbor, your boss or anyone you feel should love you but is not or anyone you feel you love but does not see it. The following is how to love. When one of the attributes is missing, there is a hunger for it in the heart of the beloved.
1 Love is large and incredibly patient.
2. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all.
3. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else.
4 Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. 5. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. 6. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense.
7. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong.
8. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others.
9. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.
The more that the beloved cannot feel of these nine attributes of love the more unloved he feels. Many of us take love to be romance. Romance is not love at all. Just the same name for two different things. Love appeals to my senses while love appeals to my soul/spirit. You may enjoy romance without love or feeling loved. This is one of the reasons people appreciate love in their pets because love is not romance and the pets show them the attributes of love.
Now look at the attributes of love one by one. How many can you tick yes to of all of them towards anyone you claim to love. I noticed that intolerance and arrogance were what my ex husband missed in me while I missed the second and third in him so our spirits missed some aspects of love from each other and we were yearning for them. So if you want to love me, let your relationship with me be guided by the nine attributes of love above. Imagine if the world was guided by these rather than by military powers and capability; how much peace we shall experience? This is why romance and sweet talk never satisfy the yearning for love. These should be guides for interpersonal as well as international relationships. Think on these attributes of love and pray that they be rooted in you.
Whenever you desire love, give out love as well.
PRAY: Dear Lord, let love lead and guide in all my relationships and international relationships.
