BEWARE OF WICKEDNESS

April 27.      Job ch 31-34

BEWARE OF THE WICKED

Behold, the wicked man conceives evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies. He makes a pit, digging it out, and falls into the hole that he has made. His mischief returns upon his own head, and on his own skull his violence descends.

Psalm 7:14‭-‬16 ESV

GOOD DAY. There is an insect we used to play with as children when we followed my grandmother to the farm. It is called bagworm moth in English. It would pick all sorts of small branches of dry shrubs into a heap about thrice its size then go under the heap and lift it to be carrying it about. The wicked person is like this insect. He conceives evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies. He formats evil, digs up a pit for others but falls inside it himself. The wicked person ends up eating the fruit of his wickedness by himself.

Because the wicked person has perfected the art of covering up, people looking assume it is well with him but those who are close to such a person will know his experience. The wicked person only drowns himself with his wickedness. When he seems to be prospering, he is actually digging his own pit. This is the prognosis of wickedness as written out by Apostle James:

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

James 1:13‭-‬15 ESV

Because nothing good comes out of wickedness, we should guard our desires so it does not lead us down the way of destruction.  To fully appreciate the emptiness of wickedness, read the book of Esther. It is a short book that is full of wisdom about how wickedness destroys the wicked.

PRAY: Dear Lord, when my desires run wild, help me to remember You and tame them with Your words.
