April 18. Esther ch 3-7
SAVE THE EARTH (2)
““Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
Deuteronomy 8:11-14, 17-18 ESV
GOOD DAY: People of technologically advanced countries find it difficult to remember God and they are not to blame. This is because they have answers to almost all their basic tangible needs from science or the state. Even now as the cost of living is getting unbearably high for them and most systems are breaking down, they refuse to call on God, rather they turn their anger and questions to the state as things are growing worse by the day.
What does God say about this and what can we do? When we forget God and deliberately take Him out of the equation of our life, we begin to do abominable things. We put aside His commandments and precepts for living and we rely on our power forgetting that He is the One that gave us power to succeed. What each of us can do is to personally remember God, seek His face and live by His precepts. Return to Him as the source of all that you have and thank Him. Encourage others in your bubble of influence to do the same. We need to remember that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness of it, the world and those who dwell in it. If we do not believe this and use the earth as God prescribes, we will self destroy ourselves.
…because they had not obeyed my rules, but had rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were set on their fathers’ idols. Moreover, I gave them statutes that were not good and rules by which they could not have life, and I defiled them through their very gifts in their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it that they might know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 20:24-26 ESV. When man rejects God, He gives them over to rules and statutes by which he cannot live. This is what we are experiencing in the world now. We are just coming out of a pandemic for example and the scientists are already getting ready for another one. Is pandemic a phenomenon by which man can live? God gives us a choice to choose between life and death. Hear Him;
If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. You shall not live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
Deuteronomy 30:16-20 ESV
O that we will choose life.
PRAY: Dear Lord, help us to choose life individually and encourage others to do the same. I CHOOSE LIFE.
