SEEKING HELP

March 24               2 Kings ch 16-19

IN NEED OF HELP? ASK

,,,and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

John 4:6‭-‬9 NASB1995

GOOD DAY: I read E M Bounds’ biography and I admire how he raised and maintained an orphanage without asking for help from anyone but totally depended on God for all their supplies. He prayed for every penny and every meal that the children ate. Bounds had a congregation but never burdened them with all sorts of offerings etc. I also know of ministers of God now who have to burden the congregation with tithes and offerings for any and everything they want to do. I was going to take E M Bounds’ approach until the Spirit opened my mind to the experience of Jesus at the well on the way to Jerusalem.

It is maintaining a balance in seeking help when it is absolutely necessary that really matters and not being a burden on people at every opportunity. Jesus the Son of Man was weary with His journey, He asked a woman who came to fetch wàter from the well to give Him water to drink. We don’t know whether Jesus drank water from the woman but we do know that the woman got a miracle of deliverance and she knew that living water could flow through her. She also became a mega evangelist that brought men of Samaria to know Jesus.

Before you approach people for help, try your best. Jesus did before asking for help. He did not use His supernatural powers to command water up from the well or to manipulate people for their belongings.

PRAY: Dear Lord, open my eyes to see the helper You have sent to me and make me humble enough to ask for help.
