February 9. Deuteronomy ch 4-7
RESPONDING TO GOD
““Come, let us discuss this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18 HCSB
““Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: I got this note from a child of God in response to the hymn of yesterday. It reads ‘A closer walk with God is not negotiable for genuine children of God.’ One of the many discoveries I found about the nature of God in reading through the bible is the fact that He passionately loves mankind. At first in the Garden of Eden, God would go and visit Adam and Eve in the cool of the day.
“They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”” Genesis 3:8-9 NASB1995
It is not that God did not know where they were or what had happened but He reached out to call them in spite of their disobedience. It is like He repeated the same call to you and me in Isaiah 1:18. God is ever inviting man to come no matter his state. Even when we do not recognise Him, He looks after us or does something to attract our attention which will get you to respond to His overtures. Have pleasant things you do not expect happen to you? It is God calling you. Have unpleasant things happened too? It is still God calling you.
Answer to His call like Samuel did.
So the Lord called Samuel again for the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli discerned that the Lord was calling the boy. And Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. Then the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.” 1 Samuel 3:8-10 NASB1995
Then the Lord started speaking. Is the Lord calling you through the happenings in your life and you don’t realise it is His voice? Today you are knowing it. The next thing is to sit and reason with Him. I have done it several times. He answers every time either by giving me an understanding or by comforting me or by giving me peace or by someone coming to tell me something that answers my reasoning with Him. The problem is that we do not feel Him with our senses. As you start reasoning with Him, you will grow deeper in your intimacy with Him when you get to know that He answers. As things are getting more difficult all over the world, a close walk with God is becoming inevitable.
PRAY: Dear Lord, quicken my interest to desire and have a closer walk with you.
