BE AWARE OF YOUR MIND
“Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23 NASB1995
GOOD DAY. On a normal day, most people are unconscious of the state of their minds yet there is a world full of activities there at any given time. Thoughts and ideas are playing up freely in an uncontrolled mind and the unseen world of the mind soon starts shaping the seen world around a person. Issues of life come from within your heart.
Years back, two friends of mine went through exactly the same problem in their businesses. The two of them were badly affected by the recession of the Nigerian economy. That was the first time the rate of exchange hit the roof and things were really tough. Their two businesses collapsed but what happened later showed the state of their minds in how they had managed it.
The mind can be filled and controlled in two ways.
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6 KJV
It can be carnally controlled or spiritually controlled. The carnal mind leads to death. Not necessarily bodily death but death of peace, joy, courage and such emotions and virtues.
The spiritual mind however leads to life, peace, joy, love, faith and all the fruits of the Spirit. We see these two different states in my two friends.
The first woman became so sad, depressed and lost all hope. She withdrew from everybody and her whole household became toxic as she snapped at everyone. This toxic disposition spread to all members of her household till her husband too lost his job. She has not recovered since then and they are managing to survive on one of their children abroad.
The second woman was sad at first but that was short lived. She kept giving thanks to God affirming to herself that God Is and He is in control; God will work all things together for her good as she loves God; a righteous man falls seven times and seven times he rises again and many other like thoughts of God. She was happy and full of thanksgiving and hope in the power of God. She was helped financially by another friend to start he business again.
It is good to be aware or conscious of your mind.
PRAY: Dear Lord, please give me a clear picture of my mind.
