THE TUG OF WAR

April 18.                      1 Kings 8

THE TUG OF WAR

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.”

Galatians 5:16-17 NASB1995

GOOD DAY. There is a tug of war going on in the human soul. We all have it and only realize it once in a while when we have to consciously fight off some thoughts that have taken us captive resulting in unpleasant situations. Information in our souls fights a battle. A man has in his soul “by the stripes of Jesus I was healed”, “I serve the Lord my God and He takes disease from my body”. Then, he suddenly develops difficulty in passing urine. He goes to the hospital and the doctor says he has a prostate condition. Then the information about the prognosis of prostate condition starts a war with the word of God. The increase in the pain shouts louder than the scripture he has in his soul and he becomes fearful. Depending on which thought wins in his soul, he will get healed and live or he will deteriorate and die. When you are able to live by what the word of God says, His Spirit in you will work it out. If you can give thanks that you are healed despite the pain, your body will respond to treatment and you will get  healed.

Galatians 5:16-17 has always been related to actions alone but the Holy Spirit linked the state of the heart to health.  Proverbs 17:22. “A joyful heart is good medicine, But a broken spirit dries up the bones.”

PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to exalt your word in my heart no matter the circumstance around me.
