work for what you can take with you

July 23.               Proverbs ch 23-27

WORK FOR WHAT YOU CAN CARRY WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE.

“Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands.”  Ecclesiastes 5:15 NIV

GOOD DAY: I was going through the book of Ecclesiastes and I was saying to myself that everyone no matter his religion should go through this book. If we could be going through it regularly, everyone’s attitude to life will change. I pray that this post will reach the super rich of the world, especially, with the mindset of wiping out their fellow humans, those with the mind that people of a certain color are sub-human, those planning their abode in space, and leaders embezzling money to the detriment of their people.

Close your eyes and imagine all the things that your hand can feel and carry that you have amassed. Feel those things you have acquired and love most. A man loved his small pocket bible so much that he never allowed anyone near it. Then he became sick and was admitted to the hospital. The day he was called home, he could not take his beloved bible with him. Recently, a very successful bank executive was called home suddenly. He just moved into the mansion of his dreams three months earlier. He proudly took a reporter on the tour of the house. The day he was called home, he could not take the house. He was not even buried in the mansion!

Knowing this, how should a man live? Listen to Jesus:

Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”. John 6:27 NIV. Tomorrow, we shall look at the food that does not spoil which we should work for.

PRAY: Dear Jesus, I am prone to fix my attention and labor on tangible things and achievements. Even my body is temporal. Help me to shift my gaze from temporal things and know that they only serve for my limited time that I will spend here in Jesus name.
