living rich towards God

LIVING RICH TOWARDS GOD

“And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.””  Luke 12:16-21

GOOD DAY:The world has turned mankind to the rich man in this story either in reality or imaginary. The rich and the poor alike think about how to acquire more riches at any cost open to them. They both forget that everything that they can hold or feel with their five senses are useless to them the day God demands His breath of life.

Now, how can man be rich towards God? There is the basic step of believing that God exists. “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 NIV

This is fundamental. The next step forward is to establish the relationship you want to have with Him. He is God of all spirits of man but Father of those who believe in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. You become a child of God through Jesus Christ.

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13 NIV

As a child of God whom He loves, the way to become rich towards Him is to obey Him.

“Now, Israel, this is what the Lord your God wants you to do: Respect the Lord your God, and do what he has told you to do. Love him. Serve the Lord your God with your whole being, and obey the Lord’s commands and laws that I am giving you today for your own good.”

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 NCV

To be rich towards God is to know Him, reverence Him and do whatever He commands you. If you spend your labor on this, He adds things your hand can hold to you as you become rich in Him. Jesus summed it up by saying; “Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, all those who have left houses, wives, brothers, parents, or children for the kingdom of God will get much more in this life. And in the age that is coming, they will have life forever.””

Luke 18:29-30 NCV Meaning if you honor Him above all else, you will have much reward here and in the life to come, eternal life.

PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, may I live to honor You at all times.

There can be obedience without surrender which may be seen as duty of a servant: surrender includes total obedience and unalloyed loyalty which is a proof of good followership.
