is this good?

August 29.       Jeremiah ch 37-39

IS THIS GOOD?

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in You!”  Psalms 84:11-12 NASB1995

GOOD DAY: I look at those with  a close walk with God as much as man can do yet things contrary to faith in and friendship with God happens to them. In comforting people at such times, the phrase ‘it is for your good’ often comes up and they are either so resentful enough as to really insult you or they ask you the direct question ‘Is this good’? God’s friends strive to deny themselves from the evil acts that pay off fast and big in the natural trusting scriptures like the one we have above. At the point of having bad things happen to them, they become confused and wonder where God is in their trial or is this the good that God promises in His word. It could be tough to comfort those who have unexpected challenges happening to them when they try to please God as much as they know. What does God have to say in such situations?

Jesus gave a direct answer in the case of the boy born blind. When asked about why the boy was blind, He said; “And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” John 9:2-3 NASB1995. God permits adversities sometimes to show His works. Either in working a physical miracle or in showing mankind that adversities do not stop the enabling power of God to make a person fruitful and fulfilled. See how Paul experienced the power of God in adversity.

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord to relieve me of this. But he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 TPT

It is God who determines what is good for the eternity of His children and whose power is shown forth in their weakness. It takes a mature person in the spirit to take this in.

PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to surrender completely to You in whatever way You choose to manifest your power in me.
