time to consider our ways

September 1.     Jeremiah ch 46-48

TIME TO CONSIDER OUR WAYS.

“You expect a surplus, but look how it shrinks. You bring it home, and I blow it away, says the LORD of heavenly forces, because my house lies in ruins. But all of you hurry to your own houses. Therefore, the skies above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce because of you. I have called for drought on the earth, on the mountains, on the grain, on the wine, on the olive oil, on that which comes forth from the fertile ground, on humanity, on beasts, and upon everything that handles produce.” Haggai 1:9-11 CEB

GOOD DAY: We are truly made in the image of God. Like we do, God loves to live in a clean and beautiful house. When the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart to write this piece, I was thrilled. Thrilled because I appreciate the fact that I love a beautiful house is not a sin but that I can’t be running after my beautiful house while ignoring God’s house. You see, because we have ignored God’s house for so long, He appears not to be living with us or far from us.

You may ask; the houses of God that we build now are more beautiful than in the past. They have air conditioners and televisions, even golden altars etc. Unfortunately, God does not live in such brick houses neither is He really interested in them.

Where is God’s house? YOU ARE HIS TEMPLE, HIS HOUSE. How are you as God’s house? How is your heart where He lives? What are the treasures there? Is it filled with treasures that give joy, love, peace and hope to those who move close to you or contact with you poisons their souls? Use the below scripture to do a heart check as we are entering a new month.

“I say be guided by the Spirit and you won’t carry out your selfish desires. A person’s selfish desires are set against the Spirit, and the Spirit is set against one’s selfish desires. They are opposed to each other, so you shouldn’t do whatever you want to do. The actions that are produced by selfish motives are obvious, since they include sexual immorality, moral corruption, doing whatever feels good, idolatry, drug use and casting spells, hate, fighting, obsession, losing your temper, competitive opposition, conflict, selfishness, group rivalry, jealousy, drunkenness, partying, and other things like that. I warn you as I have already warned you, that those who do these kinds of things won’t inherit God’s kingdom. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this.” Galatians 5:16-17, 19-23 CEB

PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, search my heart and cleanse me of my selfish desires.
