when God seems not to notice or far away

WHEN GOD SEEMS NOT TO NOTICE OR“FAR AWAY”

“I will say to God, my solid rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I have to walk around, sad, oppressed by enemies?” With my bones crushed, my foes make fun of me, constantly questioning me: “Where’s your God now?” Why, I ask myself, are you so depressed? Why are you so upset inside? Hope in God! Because I will again give him thanks, my saving presence and my God.”  Psalms ch 42:9-11 CEB

GOOD DAY: Many people are there now and that is why there are many incidents of mental health and suicide cases the world over. It is the end of the road for a person; like he is pinned to the wall. Quite painful you don’t know what next to do or who next to turn to as wherever you turn, the story is the same. This gives the enemy spirits in the form of thoughts access to your soul. The thoughts taunt you asking where your God is and how you will escape. Frustration and depression set in as all efforts have failed. Let us learn from David the man after God’s heart when he reached that point. I have used his style to guide me at my low times and I have experienced God come through for me.

First, he identified his source of strength and rock. He called on God who is both to Him. Who or what is your rock and strength? Call on that source. I call on Jesus Christ the Son of God. Next, David did not deny or downplay his condition. He asked God why He had forgotten him. Told God all the hurtful things the people were saying to him and asking where his God was. The enemies today may not be human beings but spirits and thoughts speaking to you. It is more of spirits talking to the inner man now that torment us and put poison in our souls. It is the poison that is not identified and discarded that leads to sickness of the mind. Finally, David talked to himself. This is very important. Your self-talk is how you take your stand against the assailing thoughts and silence them. Your self talk defines your perspective which either lifts you above or presses you down. David asked his soul why he is depressed. He should hope in the Lord because he shall yet praise Him. Hear him in his down state. “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6 KJV. He spoke encouragement to himself in the LORD his God.

I have used and keep using this procedure to overcome frustration and depression as they do come from time to time. I have suggested it to many people who have tried it and found themselves above frustration and depression. Depression results either when you have no encouragement or you refuse to be encouraged.

PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, help me to roll my cares unto you and encourage myself in You.
