the double edged sword

September 18.           Ezekiel ch 32-33

THE DOUBLE EDGE SWORD

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NASB1995

GOOD DAY: We all see double-edged swords in films and in my part of the world, there is a tribe that carries it around as part of their attire in readiness for attacks on their way. It has to be used with great care because it can cut its user as well as the enemy. It cuts really deep and untrained people are advised not to have access to it. Now, the word of God is likened to it and even more powerful and sharper than it.

Much as the word of God can be used against the enemy, the same word can cut the one using it. If the one using the word of God as a weapon is living in a way deserving of the weapon, the edge facing him will cut him as well. Whenever you want to judge others with the word of God, think deeply to see if you have the same situation that you are judging in your heart. The story of Modecai and Haman in Esther 7 should be a lesson. The conclusion was  “So they hanged Haman on the gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai, and the king’s anger subsided.” Esther 7:10 NASB1995

PRAY: Dear Lord, teach me to apply your word to myself first before using it on others.
