October 11. Zechariah ch 12-14
MAN OWNS NOTHING
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty— he is the King of glory.” Psalm 24:1-10 NIV
GOOD DAY: It is humbling to realize that we owe nothing and when we depart this world, all things we have acquired and lay claim to stay behind while we go. Should people be fighting and holding on to anything?
What should our attitude be to the world? Spend your time and energy pleasing the One who owns everything including you yourself. Hear the word of the wise king Solomon:
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NIV.
PRAY: Dear Lord, teach me to live to love You and love my neighbor. Let me not lay claim to anything to my own hurt in Jesus name.
