why many people give to ‘God’ and remain poor

October 14.     Matthew ch 5-7

WHY MANY PEOPLE GIVE TO GOD AND ARE STILL VERY POOR

“Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”” Matthew 4:5-7 NIV

GOOD DAY: A man put all the money he had on him in the offering bowl in response to the call of the man of God at a prosperity seminar. He was expecting a miraculous supply that would take him home and the window of heaven that God would open. The preacher used the story of the widow of Zarephath. He had to beg for money from another church member and he was surprised that that one still had some money on him. As at the last time I heard of him, he is still at the hand to mouth level.

Look at this encounter of Jesus with the devil. Jesus was taken to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple (city of God and temple of God). He then told Jesus to jump down since scriptures say God would send His angels to hold Him up. Psalm 91:11-12. Risking your life or situation to test if Scripture is true is presumptuous and testing God. Jesus did not yield to that. Many spirits speak through those who preach now. Greed, covetousness etc. speak and if you do not know God and His voice, you will easily fall prey. Many people have been led to give presumptuously and are suffering or have even left the faith. Beware of being manipulated into presumption.

PRAY: Dear Lord, grant me the spirit of discernment so that I will know when you are speaking through any of your servants.
