CHARACTER FORMATION
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5
GOOD DAY: I have seen many things in my walk with God that people who know me wonder how I am still standing and serving Him. One young woman has not stopped asking me to write a biography since some years now but I tell her that it is not yet time. Good people and believers do suffer like every other person. The rain that falls from heaven falls on the field of everybody but how each person perceives the rain is the difference. I chose to follow Abraham’s faith in developing his character. Barrenness is a sad thing that gives silent suffering and pain for those who do not choose it. You would know he wasn’t happy about it in this account. “After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”” Genesis 15:1-2
But in all the suffering, Abraham kept giving glory to God. I learnt to give glory to God and in giving Him glory I developed a thanksgiving character that gives me hope and also fans my hope.
How do you give glory to God? Giving glory to God” means to recognize and honor God for who He is, and to respond with worshipful praise, thanksgiving, and adoration. Now, I don’t make long prayers, I only see God in His majesty over my sufferings. One nature of God that thrills me now is “the God who brought water out of the rock.” Numbers 20:8. Learn to give glory to God no matter what.
PRAY: Dear Jesus Christ my Lord, may my heart and mouth give glory to You always.
