COMMONWEALTH OF GOD

March 28.   1 Chronicles ch 7-10

FOR ONE AND FOR ALL: THE COMMONWEALTH OF GOD

Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

Matthew 6:9‭-‬11 NASB1995

GOOD DAY. Today, we look at the opening part of the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray. First thing that strikes me is that Jesus used the plural pronoun. Our, and Us when referring to mankind. I refer to the Psalm 82:6 I said, “You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High.

Psalms 82:6 NASB1995

Jesus in John 10:34 referred to the same passage so when Jesus said Our Father in heaven He was referring to all mankind. Whether individuals accept that God is his father or not is another thing. Even in nature, a child may renounce his father. But whatever the Father in heaven has belongs to all His children.

Next is Hallowed be Your name. Holy is the name of the Father. We all must take His name as holy and not call it in vain. Your kingdom come. Where is the kingdom of God? Jesus had this to say when asked the same question. “Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”  Luke 17:20‭-‬21 NASB1995. If we allow it, the kingdom of God can be here with us. In His kingdom, no one lacks anything and there is peace.

If we allow His kingdom to come in our lives, the world will be a peaceful place to live in. Give us this day our daily bread. If we allow His kingdom, everyone will have enough to eat. We will just be thanking God for feeding us. There is enough provision for everybody’s needs. But because we do not allow His kingdom, there is competition and some have more than they need while others barely have anything. The catch in this prayer is if you can allow the kingdom of God in your life, then you will know and believe that there is enough for your need with the Father then you will not have a spirit of competition but wish for others what you wish for yourself. This will put you in a thanksgiving mode even when you do not have enough. Thanksgiving will position you in ways to receive your daily bread.

PRAY: Dear Lord, may your kingdom come in my life.
