DEAD TO BAD ALIVE TO GOOD
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:2-3 NIV
GOOD DAY: The secret to a happy and peaceful life is where you set your mind. I was so much at peace in my heart in spite of the uncertainties surrounding me that I heard myself saying to myself ‘Can I live without You Lord?’ I answered myself affirmatively that I cannot. I have been sharing spirituality for some days now. I want to share how I got to the point of stability of heart even in the midst of storms.
I discovered some years back that I am actually alive to wherever my mind is. Wherever my mind settles is actually my home. If my mind settles and dwells in the world and all that is in it, I cannot have peace of mind. If I call things and think of them in the mind of the world, then I am alive to all the bad things of the world. The mind of the world is my natural home. It is the default setting of mankind since after the fall of Adam. Man finds it easier to live with the bad as he is only conscious of what he feels with his five senses. This gives him no peace or joy.
The other option is to believe that he is a spirit being and live in the kingdom of God where there is only good. When God looked at everything He created, He said that they are good. In the heavenly realm above, there is love, peace, joy and other fruit of the spirit and everything good. When your mind is fixed on that, you will put everything that is of the world to death.
“For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” Romans 8:13 NIV
If you live in your mind according to the Spirit, you will put to death the deeds of the flesh or world and be victorious. Let me put it this way; a dead person neither feels nor controlled by pain, anger, lack, jealousy, greed, covetousness and other bad things of the world. Likewise, a person who sets his mind above is controlled by the Spirit and becomes dead to all the works of the world. The world says elders are weak and fragile. In the. Spirit of God, it is said that ““He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:29-32 NIV
As I put my mind on this scripture, my strength is renewed to perform my duties. You apply this to every area of your life and you live victorious as long as you are here on earth.
PRAY: Thank You Lord for making your way plain. Help me to put my thoughts on the Spirit.
