DEALING WITH YOUR FEARS

April 29.                                  2 Kings ch 9-10

DEALING WITH YOUR FEAR

“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why do we sit here until we die? If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ then the famine is in the city and we will die there; and if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us go over to the camp of the Arameans. If they spare us, we will live; and if they kill us, we will but die.” They arose at twilight to go to the camp of the Arameans; when they came to the outskirts of the camp of the Arameans, behold, there was no one there.”

2 Kings 7:3-5 NASB1995

GOOD DAY: This is the story of the four lepers at the gate of Samaria when Israel was famine battered and hedged around by the Arameans. Read the full story again. In this case, the lepers were outcasts and had no hope again but they were the ones who were bold enough to face the fears of the whole Israel.

Hear their reasoning: “Arameans are here to kill us (Israel). They have food and water and everything we need to survive. If we sit and refuse to face our fears and go to their camp even if it is to go and  beg for food we shall die. If we go and they kill us, we will still die. Let us go to their camp. Perhaps they will spare us.” They faced their fear and did what they were very afraid to do.

Alas! There was nothing to fear. The killers had been driven away by God. Elisha had spoken the word that there would be food in Samaria in abundance the next day and nobody believed.

When you have prayed and discussed your fears with God, whatever comes to your mind to address your situation, God has made a way. No matter how unreasonable by human standard it could be, it is the wisdom of God. Reason it out like those lepers. It can’t make your life worse than the consequence you fear. It can only make it better. So face your fear with God and you will see that there is nothing to fear.

PRAY: Dear Lord, teach me to pray enough to have peace with whatever comes to my heart to solve my challenges.

Yes, I agree with this. I was led by the spirit of God to start a church. For years I was scared but I finally decided to confront my fears v stepping out to do what I know that I should be doing I started on April 7 and I am no more scared. I know that God will help me and He will prove Himself.
