FOR HIS NAME SAKE

November 4.       Luke ch 19-24

FOR HIS NAME SAKE

(No Regret Yet Not An Excuse,)

He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭23:3‭-‬4‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

GOOD DAY: O the mystery of God and our existence. We make mistakes and we have regrets. Many people have lost their happiness and full zest for living because of their mistakes while some have become so proud and condemning of those whose mistakes are obvious. For both those mistakes or correct actions, it is God leading man to tell His story. Hear what He says of Pharaoh,:

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:17‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

He made Pharaoh disobedient to Him to show the world the reward of stiff neck and disobedience. Hear what He says of Samson and his attraction to a philistine woman:  ‭‭Judges‬ ‭14:3‭-‬4‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

[3] Then his father and his mother said to him, “Is there no woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she looks good to me.” However, his father and mother did not know that it was of the Lord, for He was seeking an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines were ruling over Israel.

God was moving Samson to lust after a philistine woman to serve His purpose. You know the end of the story or you can read it in Judges ch 14-16. Look at the story of the Pharisee and tax collector:

The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’  I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”. ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:11‭-‬14‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

If you truly believe in God, then arise from the pit of regret or come down from the horse of pride and give God the glory.

PRAY: Thank You Lord because You are the justifier of men.
