foundation of faith

FOUNDATION OF FAITH

“And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death. [Zech 3:1-10; Rom 8:33, 34]”  Revelation 12:11 AMP

GOOD DAY: Let us look at the one foundation of faith that is overlooked by the cheap and merchandising preaching of faith. People are becoming more aware and are asking questions. They ask why a man of God professing faith would employ bodyguards including OPC and Amotekun to guard him as he moves around. OPC and Amotekun are traditional security outfits in Nigeria. However, it is time we look at faith and begin to live by faith in God because times are perilous and we are getting to the time where both rich and poor will need faith to survive and live happily. Scientists are pumping all sorts of chemicals into the air to alter the atmosphere to their desired effect and food from the market cannot be trusted.

So what does faith entail? Faith is having a personal principle or conviction that you live by and on which you can stake your life. To build such a principle, people are informed about how the principle worked with results in the past generations. When trials come because of the principle, you stick with it even if it means dying because of your stand. Faith in God through Jesus Christ of Nazareth needs a conviction and commitment that even in the face of death, you will not deny your faith in Him to do what He says He will do. Let’s look at an example. “and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, is it true that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden statue I have set up? Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the blazing fiery furnace and from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up.”” Daniel 3:14-18 BSB

These three men preferred to be thrown into the furnace than give up their faith that they should not bow to any other God. There are many stories like that in the Bible. We shall look at the modern-day relevance of this foundation of faith tomorrow. The foundation of faith is to have no fear of death.

PRAY: Dear Lord, Your word and even Your existence are being seriously challenged by the day. Help us to understand faith and give us the grace to stand by our faith in You in a contrary world.

Thank you Sis. I love this insight on faith as summarized and well captured…in having no fear of death. To God and God alone be ALL the glory. Hallelujah.
