HAVE WHAT IT TAKES

April 30.      Psalm ch 1-4

HAVE ALL IT TAKES

Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9:62 ESV

GOOD DAY: “There will always be reasons to look back but if you don’t, you will make it.” Those were my mother’s words to me when I wanted to give up on education because getting my fees paid was difficult for her. I thought of stopping and finding some petty work to do but she insisted I should hang in there and that something will happen. “God will work wonders” she would tearfully say. And God did work wonders, I was one of the ten people chosen for scholarship in the then Western Region that year. Those were days when you didn’t need to know any influential person to get benefits in my country. Rules based on merits were strictly followed. Thank God for those days.

There will always be reasons to look back or sideways and stop moving forward or postpone doing something. You need to gather all it takes to see it to the end before you start. Necessary as material preparation is, spiritual preparation is more profitable. If you decide to achieve something by following God’s principles, you need to have enough faith to be sure of the end result so that no matter the challenge along the way, you will keep pressing on following your conviction. The lifestyle and pronouncement of Daniel and his three Hebrew friends sum it up.

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself.”   Daniel 1:8 ESV. The conviction; they will not defile themselves with royal food and wine.

The challenge;   There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, pay no attention to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”… Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”  Daniel 3:12‭, ‬15‭-‬18 ESV

This is conviction, and having all the knowledge and faith in God.  A double minded person who lacks faith in his God is not fit to show forth His glory.

PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to know You well enough to stick by Your word no matter.
