HOW TO MOVE ON FROM STAGNANCE

“I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

GOOD DAY: Leaving stagnance is a personal decision. I have seen people who remain stagnant because they love the pity they get when they relate their stories. Some like the condemnation of the object they consider to be the cause of their calamity. I have heard some people who refuse to move after a success because of the accolade that they receive after narrating their success. I have seen posts of bereaved people who confess that they cannot move forward again after the demise of their loved ones. They even fault anyone who asks them to move on. Some people get fixated at a stop because they are afraid of the unknown. In any area you feel that you are not moving on either mentally or physically, check what is pinning you down. That is the beginning of moving forward. If your marriage is not happy and you appear stock in a prison, look for the cause of the staleness.

Read the full story of the prodigal son that is quoted for meditation. He got to a point where he spoke to himself. He decided to get up and move in the direction of relief. He swallowed his pride, fear and regrets and was ready to face whatever would befall him going back to his father.

Jonathan is another example of one that chose to stop moving round the same mountain like other Israelites and decided to move towards their freedom. Hear what he said: “Now the day came that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man who was carrying his armor, “Come and let us cross over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

He said to his armor bearer to come and let them cross over to the camp of the enemy keeping them fixated at a point. Moving forward begins with the individual recognising that he is fixed at a point and deciding to move. Recognition is God’s way of saying it is time to move.

I remember some years back when fear or rejection kept me from writing. This started because the first person I showed the article I wrote for editing totally condemned it saying it was below his standard having been chief editor of a national newspaper before. I was kept down and unhappy for two years then one day, I got tired of the unhappiness and decided to write and print my article and circulate it by myself free of charge. People will take free gifts anyway. That was how I got up and started my writing ministry and I am still at it till now. Since I chose to get up, I have received help at every turn thanks to God. There is life beyond a success or a failure. Decide to reach out and explore life beyond your situation. You will be helped.

Today’s exercise is to check where you are fixated either in thought or action. Write it out and decide what you think you should do to move forward. Choose to explore new avenues.

PRAY: Dear Lord, I ask for Your support to get up and move towards my destiny in Jesus name. Help me to overcome my limiting factors.
