Importance of the Old Testament

IMPORTANCE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT.

“Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” 1 Corinthians 10:11 NASB1995

GOOD DAY: The Bible can be divided into two parts by each  person as it is easy for the person to connect with. I call the Old Testament the book of God’s proactive dealing with man with no coding, and the New Testament as God’s relationship with man’s spirit and highly coded. The Old Testament had no coding at all. God told man directly what He wanted for and from man and man did what he felt was right in his own eyes. Man behaved raw like man in his fallen nature  and God left man to face the consequences of his actions. In my early Christian days, I loved reading the Old Testament. I could relate with the different characters and human feelings. I saw myself and various people I met through the eyes of the Bible easily. The Bible was alive to me.

It took me time to understand and connect with the New Testament but I still kept reading it. With time, my spirit became more and more mature and I started connecting with the New Testament. I started perceiving the motive behind people’s actions. Then, I began to see like the prophets and apostles. It became easy to live the life that God wanted of me. It became also easy to see what to expect from people and life when my motives are bad through the knowledge of both the Old and the New Testaments.

Today’s scripture for meditation gave me the clear purpose of the Old Testament. The Bible is not just a history book but the Testament of an unseen God to His seen creature.

PRAY: Dear Lord, teach my heart to love You through Your word and relate proactively with You.
