Is this the time?

June 4.              Nehemiah ch 11-13

IS THIS THE TIME?

“But Elisha said to him, “Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or to accept clothe’s or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves?”2 Kings 5:26 NIV

GOOD DAY: Let us look at this season when things are pretty tight all over the world especially in developing countries. In African countries, churches abound everywhere with the multitude of worshipers coming to church without food and probably not knowing where their next meal would come from. Yet these people are still expected to give offerings and tithes and first fruits and church building funds and towards all sorts of programs and crusades.

Let us face it, is this the time to build houses, organize programs, ask for offerings and tithes when the people have not eaten?

Leaders of the people of God, this is the time to demonstrate compassion to the flock. This is the time to arrange palliatives from what they had stored in your custody for God and make sure that no worshiper lacks the basic minimum. This is the testimony of the early church.

“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.”Acts 4:32-35 NIV

It is possible. Organize food banks and days to share food stuff to all the needy. Encourage people to help each other; let your worshipers have joy when they are coming to church. This is what God wants now. The church is the light of the world. If our big churches could do this, the nation will follow. This is time to act and show love between us and not time for prayer and fasting.

PRAY: Dear Lord, teach us to share with others in a way that will spread round in Jesus name.

The Lord is good and that is His nature.
The Lord will always provide for His flock in spite of their situation. Let us not depart from doing His work. Amen.
