KNOW YOUR SOUL

“Yahweh-God scooped up a lump of soil, sculpted a man, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The man came alive – a living soul!” Genesis 2:7 TPT

GOOD DAY: The word soul was first used in the Bible in Genesis 2:7 at the creation of Adam. I am not keen on wearing you with Hebrew words but the summary of what happened is given thus:

Gen. 2:7 Or “the breath of lives.” To breathe into someone’s nostrils is what happens when two people kiss. God kissed life into Adam. God’s Word likewise is “God-breathed” (2 Tim.3:16).

Jesus also blew his breath upon his beloved disciples (seeJohn 20:21-22). The lovers of God long for this “Spirit-kiss” (Song.1:2). See also Ezek.37:9. Instantly, every portion of Adam’s being was filled with life as Spirit-Wind poured into the man of clay lying in his Creator’s arms. Adam’s first sight was looking into the eyes of the Image-Maker. The dust of earth and the breath of Deity mingled as one, so that Adam could interact in both realms (physical and spiritual). This breath or “Spirit of life” was more than air; it brought intelligence, wisdom, light, and the image of God into Adam (see Job 32:8). [Commentary in the TPT version of the Bible]. 

Your soul therefore is the seat of intelligence, wisdom, light (understanding ), and the image of God. It is interesting to know that science or man has not been able to locate where the soul is in the body of man. This is what they have not been able to do with the human robots. The soul like God is spiritual and not physical but each person knows that he has a soul and the soul is the interface between the spiritual and the physical. 

There was a tree in the Garden of Eden called the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The man was not to eat the fruit of this tree because he would die the day he ate it. He will be cut off from God and have physical intelligence, wisdom, and light to make things in his own image. In other words, man replaced God’s content from his soul and put his own content there. Genesis 3:5-6. Whoever understands this fundamental truth will be able to manage the health of his soul and have the peace of God that passed all understanding.
