                 UNDERSTANDING YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS

For the thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me. I cannot relax or be still; I have no rest, for trouble comes.     Job 3:25‭-‬26 HCSB

GOOD DAY. Two days ago we said we will discuss how we can understand our subconscious mind. It is a pity that some cultures don’t take cognisance of feelings. Some languages don’t even have native words for some feelings. There are various feelings like fear, love, joy, peace, envy, hatred, anger, and so on. When we meet with events or situations, they invoke any of these feelings in us. The feeling invoked speaks of a belief system or an experience you had in the past that has been stored deep down in you, or a culture that you have stored since you were young. These feelings are energies waiting to be expressed that gather their like situations around you and become your reality. The story of Job above shows a vivid example. The fear of the deep belief he had that God can punish deeply without mercy made him offer sacrifices even for his children’s misbehaviour on a daily basis. He did not see the mercy or grace side of God and Satan capitalised on that and brought his fear on him.

To understand your subconscious mind, start noticing the emotions you have at various times in the day. It is good to journal them so you can get to the root of them and manage them. Anyone that you catch, you own it then you use the truth of God to objectively dissolve it until it stops motivating your objective behaviour. For example, I lived under the fear that people could harm me with occult practices so I used to be very secretive. This was informed by some wrong cultural beliefs and things happening in the area where I grew up. My prayers were formed to react to whoever or whatever could bring the situation on me. What I feared happened. It was in my search for answers that I studied to understand faith and who I Am. Since I understood the root of the fear, I took Psalm 31:15 TPT

My life, my every moment, my destiny—it’s all in your hands. So I know you can deliver me from those who persecute me relentlessly.

to replace the thought that someone can harm me or alter my destiny. I used this verse for quite some time before I became relaxed and my perspective changed. This is one of the ways that you will through the feelings that situations evoke in you identify the state of your subconscious mind.

Another pointer to your subconscious mind is the pattern of dreams that you have. When you are asleep, your conscious mind is not at work at all. It is only your subconscious that plays around and takes you to wherever or to do whatever it has in store. God uses dreams as well to tell you His move regarding you or His moves. God moves you to be worried and find the meaning of the dreams that He uses to instruct you. A lot of examples of these are recorded in the bible.

If something keeps recurring in your life that you don’t like, or if you want to change your state in life, then pray

Psalm 139:23 because the thoughts and beliefs stored there are energies seeking to create events after their pattern.

God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares. See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on, and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting way— the path that brings me back to you.  Psalms 139:23‭-‬24 TPT

PRAY: Dear God, shine Your light to my heart and see all that I have buried there. Clean it and make me whole please.
