LESSON IN THINKING 2

“Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].” Philippians 4:8 Amp.

GOOD DAY: Welcome to lesson two of lesson in thinking. In lesson 1, we discussed how we think the natural way. You consider all the sides to the issue according to the principles of the world and you decide what to do as your emotions or feelings dictate. In this second way of thinking, you deliberately decide to think as God thinks. God said “For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 AMP

The thinking of God towards you is of peace and wellbeing to give you your expected end even when all hope seems lost. You can now see why you need to think in the pattern of our lead scripture for today. The only good and authentic things to think about in relation to any circumstance is what God says about it, that is God’s thought. His thoughts are the only thoughts that will give peace and wellbeing with your expected result. I will give you an example. About three years ago, I had the duty of taking my grandchildren to school and back. Part of the way to their school is hilly and my knees were painful climbing. I kept saying to myself ‘In Him I live and move and have my being’ with every step. I was not thinking of walking by myself and my power but I thought of myself as moving in God. I saw God as the vehicle that was carrying me from place to place. Even when I was not walking, I kept saying the same thing until it went deep in my spirit, giving me joy and swallowing the pain each time I have had to walk. I have been able to create a pain free movement for myself in that thought of God. It is the same with material needs. I think on “And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) my every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 AMP

And God drops what to do in my spirit that gives me peace until His supply comes. Just as your thoughts in the worldly way informs you on the action to take and have emotional consequences on your being, so also does thinking in God’s way instruct you on what godly action to take that gives good emotions with wellbeing.

Today’s exercise is to write down whatever thoughts come to your mind that stays. Write down God’s thoughts about it and keep repeating that to yourself. Tomorrow, we will talk about those who don’t know scriptures yet they want to think God’s thoughts.

PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to hold on to your thoughts for me no matter how pressing the issue is.
