of faith, presumption and denial

OF FAITH PRESUMPTION AND DENIAL

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”  Habakkuk 3:17-18 NIV

GOOD DAY: To our American brothers and sisters, we say happy thanksgiving day. To all of us, we also say happy thanksgiving today and always. Today, we will look at FAITH in the trio of FAITH, PRESUMPTION AND DENIAL. The three of them have the phrase “God will do it or I am believing in God” in common. So how do we differentiate them from each other?

FAITH is an unwavering conviction that God exists. Knowing this, FAITH makes one seek to know God, His nature and attributes, how He relates with mankind or His entire creation in general. All these form the basis of one’s conviction. I was listening to a young man’s thanksgiving reel on Facebook yesterday. He is full of FAITH but he never understood faith till about four years ago when he faced a barrage of challenges in his life. Prior to that time, anytime he prayed, God answered him instantly with the result he expected. So he was happy and proud that he had faith. His thanksgiving was with his whole heart. Then, challenges started and he prayed as hard as he knew how to but no answer from God. Things went from good to bad to worse as the challenges spread. Then one day, God told him that FAITH is not about getting what you want when you want it but FAITH is maintaining your conviction about Me no matter what. FAITH is believing that wherever he is or whatever his conditions are, God is still God and has not changed. Wherever he is or whatever he is passing through, once he has prayed, he should believe that that is where God wants him for now if nothing happens. He is able to give quality thanks to God now and encourage people to give thanks to God no matter their challenges. He could now connect with our lead scripture of Habakkuk 3:17-18. As you genuinely thank God in your circumstance, you are expressing faith in Him and you are getting stronger spiritually. Tomorrow, we shall consider Presumption.

PRAY: Dear Lord, today is thanksgiving day. I want to thank You for all countries where there is war, countries where there is social or racial discrimination, countries where there is gun violence, all those whose hearts are burdened and heavy now. Thank You Lord for You are moving to show Yourself mighty on earth. Thank You Lord.
