November 26. Acts ch 27-28
ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
““Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9-10 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: The above statement is God’s desired lifestyle for mankind. To me, until recently, it was just a routine prayer as part of the Lord’s Prayer but the Holy Spirit asked me a pointed question that set me thinking. He said to my heart “what do you know of heaven?” It then occurred to me that if my lifestyle should be patterned after heaven, I must know what heaven is all about. To many of us, we think heaven only happens when we die. This is not so as Jesus points out.
The first thing is to check if you believe that heaven exists and it is a real spiritual abode of God; “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.” Hebrews 12:22-24 NASB1995
“for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17 NASB1995
The kingdom of God is not about self or flesh. It is about righteousness, peace and joy. This is what is maintained in heaven by those who abide there. If each one of us lives in the kingdom of heaven, even while we are here on earth, we will be at peace with each other. Jesus said: “No one will say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’; because the Kingdom of God is within you.”” Luke 17:21 GNT
Heaven is within you in your heart. If we choose to check our thoughts and actions through the filter of 1. Is it right; 2. Is it peaceful and 3. Does it give joy to all concerned, then the prayer and desire of God is fulfilled for earth will be as heaven.
PRAY: Dear Lord, may my heart be your kingdom in Jesus name.
