PERPETUAL JOY AND PEACE

May 4.           Psalms ch 17-20

TEMPORAL OR ETERNAL?

(Secret to continual joy and peace)

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.  2 Corinthians 4:16‭-‬18 ESV

GOOD DAY. Two men had their wives terminally sick in the hospital. They met everyday in the hospital ward. One was full of gloom and pain while the other one was calm and full of gratitude to God despite the fact of his situation. Asked why the second man was calm and full of gratitude to God, he said “I see Lola (his wife) with her spiritual body which is strong and healthy. I focus on that and I rejoice that she will soon leave this body for her glorious spirit body.” Although he will miss his wife when she departs this world, it will not be with the same pain as the person who does not see the heavenly status.

Temporal things of this world change. They flourish and wither but it is not the same in the spirit. The spirit realm is unseen and only the believer can see and accept it because it is spiritually discerned.  The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV

I am rich and have enough in the spirit while I may lack some money here right now. My senses see lack but my spirit sees abundance because there is no lack in heaven. The sick person here is hale and hearty in the spirit because there is no sickness in heaven. Whoever can focus on his spiritual state and give thanks, such a person is joyful and peaceful in spite of his natural state. He has a hope to look forward to after leaving this body or if God wills, he will be healed. The secret to perpetual joy and peace is to see from the spiritual perspective and not from the natural. It is tough to do especially when the natural senses shout loud and tell you that your spiritual perception is wrong. If you can hold on to your belief in the spirit and how things are there, you will have joy that surpasses human understanding at all times and seasons.

PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to rewrite the perception of my senses with that of the spirit to enjoy perpetual peace and joy.
