Pray sense to power

May 25.        2 Chronicles ch 29-30

PRAY SENSE TO POWER

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”  1 Timothy 2:1-2KJV. 

GOOD DAY: I was listening to some activists who were speaking the facts about the governance of my nation. The commentators were crediting them for being able to speak sense to power. Activists at various levels and various times have spoken sense to power to the extent that some of them were imprisoned and killed and some have become refugees in foreign countries yet nothing has changed. 

What does the Bible have to say about what we can do to have a peaceable life in our countries? It is to pray for all people and especially for kings and our rulers. We may be shut up from speaking sense to power but no one can stop us from PRAYING SENSE TO POWER. We have complained and cried to power and about power but that has achieved nothing. This is why our praying sense to power will work. 

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” Romans 13:1 KJV

God put a man in a position of authority to be His representative. If he does the work well or not, those being ruled have the obligation to report back to God who put him there. The people that were uncomfortable with Sodom and Gomorrah prayed sense to power and at a stage, God came down to see for Himself and He passed judgment. Genesis 18:20-21. When you pray sense to power, God God arises when the prayer gets to the threshold of God’s patience with the leader and situation. Instead of complaining about condition of things in your country or home or work place, pray sense and change to power. 

PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, You are the One that places rulers in authority. Help us to acknowledge this and learn to route our feelings and requests to you instead of complaining and rioting.
