April 26. 2 Kings ch 1-3
READ TO NOURISH YOUR SOUL
“Instead, when he sits on his royal throne, he himself must write a copy of this Instruction on a scroll in the presence of the levitical priests. That Instruction must remain with him, and (he must read in it every day of his life) so that he learns to revere the LORD his God by keeping all the words of this Instruction and these regulations, by doing them, by not being overbearing toward his fellow Israelites, and by not deviating even a bit from the commandment. If the king does all that, he will ensure lasting rule in Israel for himself and for his successors.” Deuteronomy 17:18-20 CEB
GOOD DAY: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people who are God’s own possession. 1 Peter 2:9a CEB. Jesus has made all those who believe in Him royal priests. It is a double honour conferred on us by the Holy Spirit in us. Reading the word of God daily becomes mandatory for us.
This generation hardly do wholesome reading. Technology with all social media posts have damaged the wholesome reading habit that we once had.
The challenge is that you pattern your life after what you read. If you read wholesome things, your soul has a store of wholesome information and it moves in that direction. You observe to do what you read. This is why God instructs that the king must have a copy of the Law of God copied out with his hand and read it everyday so he will learn to revere God.
The result of not reading the bible is a world guided by what internet people want the world to be. Things that violate God’s law, even nature are presented as the facts for this generation, people read it and laugh about it forgetting that it has been stored in their souls. Even prayers are formed in ways that give opposite effects of what we want. Prayers for money made people covetous leading to corruption.
READ but read wholesome materials. A generation that refuses to read wholesome things is a lost generation.
PRAY: Dear Lord, let those who give out information know that they are responsible for the soul of the society and disseminate wholesome information.
