THE SECRET TO DELIVERANCE

(The lesson of Matthew 18:23-35)

““Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I cancelled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.””  Matthew 18:32-35 NIV

GOOD DAY: There is a chord that is universal in binding people. Sometimes it has been so long ago that we don’t even remember it again but that does not make it less potent. The chord is called UNFORGIVENESS. Some offenses could be so deep and damaging at the time they were committed that we pronounced some curse or determined the kind of vengeance we want for the offender. It could also be fresh and we are still seeking how to afflict vengeance or even destroy the offender. God is saying to us all today that we need to set that offender free completely from your heart. It is easier said than done. The first time that God got me to a corner to forgive someone I never wished to forgive, I wept and resisted. It was difficult like I was forced to carry a heavy brick. It took me three days to be able to mention his name and say ‘I forgive you’. It took me consistently repeating that I forgave him before the lump in my chest at the mention of his name disappeared and I was happy to say I forgave him and blessed him spontaneously. Since then, I have become free. Forgiving people has become easy for me no matter the offense. Your spiritual exercise today, is to remember and name someone who offended you and call forth his name and the offense, feel the pain as long as you want, cry if you must for as long as you want but end it with ‘I forgive you’. If you don’t do this, God will not forgive you for your many offenses. He will hand you over to tormentors to torment you till you are able to pay it all back high you cannot do. If you love your freedom and deliverance from torment, call on the Holy Spirit today to help you forgive.

PRAY: Dear Father, I thank You for giving Your Son Jesus to pay for my sins that I may be free. Help me to forgive my fellow men of their offenses against me too.
