short or long sighted

August 25. Jeremiah ch 27-29

SHORT SIGHTED OR LONG SIGHTED

In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.” Hebrews 6:17-18 NASB

GOOD DAY: A man was writing about when he first started dating his wife and he did not know that she is short sighted. She was on the stage playing piano and he was on the first row cheering her lovingly and she did not look in his direction. He felt so pained and disappointed he almost called off courting her; however, the Holy Spirit encouraged him on till he knew this shortcoming of hers and they’ve had fifty blissful years together.
In our spiritual walk with Jesus, we can either be short sighted and not see beyond our present circumstances or we can be long sighted seeing the promises of God as per where He is taking us. Short sightedness and long sightedness produce different fruits. If you are short sighted, your moods change by every wind that blows on you. When there is no money in your pocket or account, you become worried, depressed and afraid like the apostles in the boat with Jesus when the storm arose. Spiritual short sightedness is the root of mental health issues.
Spiritual long sightedness however makes you see the end that God is taking you in Jesus Christ and to focus on that. You have hope and it gives joy, peace and energy to overcome all obstacles. Listen to how Apostle Paul puts it: “I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us.” Romans 8:18 TPT. Long sightedness sees the hope God gives us and gains the power to endure the hardship on the road to the hope. Are you facing challenges now? Do you have any hope in Christ? Have you seen what God can do for you? Then take courage. Your end is better than your beginning or where you are now. Focus on the end and hold on to God to lead you through the rough patch. He sure will.
PRAY: Dear Lord, open my spiritual eyes to see Your plan for my life and strengthen me to endure the road You are taking me through in Jesus name.
