May 18.     2 Chronicles ch 4-6

SILVER AND GOLD

“And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” Acts 3:2-6 KJV

GOOD DAY: If we were to take a trip to heaven and read the prayer requests there in, the request for money will be well on top of the pile. Here, Peter and John were going to the temple and a beggar was seated at the gate begging for money. The expectancy in the eyes of beggars when they see someone who they figure could give them money is usually very high. The same thing happens to us when we meet or contact someone we think can give us money or make our lives better. Here, Peter and John revealed the fact that today’s preachers hate most: LACK OF SILVER AND GOLD. 

Why is money so important? 

“A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.”

Ecclesiastes 10:19 KJV  This is the scripture that made the money message to spread and made the gospel to become a trade or money making venture. However, Peter without any shame declared that he had no money but he had something that money could not get for the beggar. He had what was greater than money. He had the NAME OF JESUS that could get him healing. Hallelujah. People of God, money fails. It failed a whole nation in Genesis 47:15 It has failed many rich people. They lack the things that make life meaningful. They lack the contentment that gives rest. Most if not all of them live on protocols of medication. The name of JESUS is better, more powerful and more satisfying and more calming than silver and gold and it never fails. 

If we can dedicate the energy we use to seek for money to seek for the NAME OF JESUS AND THE POWER IT CARRIES, we will be a lot better off. I urge you to shift your focus from money to Jesus and you will begin to experience the power in the Name.  

PRAY: Lord Jesus, money is good but Your name is better. Help us to shift our gaze from seeking money to seeking Your Name.
