SPIRITUAL SEAWALL

January 10.     Genesis ch 37-40

SPIRITUAL SEAWALLS OR BREAKWATERS

“So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”‭      ‭Isaiah‬ ‭59‬:‭19‬ ‭KJVAE‬‬

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”

‭‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭63‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

GOOD DAY. Scientists warned for several years about the overflowing of The Lagos Bar Beach and the government ignored it. When I was young and we used to visit the Bar Beach, we would walk about two miles in before we touched the Atlantic ocean line. With every rainy season and rising of the water, the ocean line moved out more until now that it is just a few feet away and half of the street had been taken up by water. Then the government decided to put up seawalls strong and high enough to stop the storm from overflowing into land and causing serious damages. It is the same in the spiritual realm.

Damaging negative thoughts do storm the mind from time to time. Fears that you cannot explain grip your mind, sometimes, it is a sadness that makes you cry for no apparent reason and at times, it is a deep flow of resentment for what you cannot explain; at times like these, the spiritual seawall of the Spirit of the Lord which is His word and life will lift a standard against the storm so that it does not destroy you. You build spiritual seawalls by storing the word of God in your heart. Read it, meditate on it until it fills your heart and mind and becomes your reasoning. The more of the word of God in you that has become your reasoning and character, the stronger your seawall is. Jesus put it in a simple way by this parable.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.”‭     ‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

PRAY: Dear Lord, let your word find room and take root in my heart.
