October 8. Matthew 6-8
GET OUT OF THE BOX
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:28-31 NIV
GOOD DAY. Man has created so many boxes that limit people. Such boxes include man made laws and how to do things. Different religious denominations for example have set ways or boxes that they say people should pray. They follow these formats of praying without much to show for it yet only few will listen to different teaching and step out of the box. Many of us have questions and the most common of them is ‘how do I know God’s will for my life or a particular situation?’ It was in my search for answer after I had a tragic experience on an issue I had prayed earnestly about that I came across a book by Neville Goddard, an old preacher on prayer. This book aroused my interest and I read it like it was chocolate to my soul.
He talked about imagination and meditation as effective way to pray. Both practices are not taught in depth in the church in fact some churches ascribe both practices to eastern religions. I read the book with scripture beside me and searched the scriptures deeper than he quoted. After that book, I looked for more of his books and trust google it brought other authors on the same subject. I read short ones side by side scriptures and I found that the bible has a lot to say about imagination and meditations. Jesus actually said He did what He saw His Father doing. Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. John 5:19 NIV
How did Jesus see what His Father was doing? At the time of meditation when He was alone praying and imagining.
God expressly asked us to meditate:
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8 NIV Meditation leads to imagination that brings instructions to succeed as we see what the Father is doing.
Think of the box that you have been caged through culture, doctrine teaching that has limited your ability and joy. Imagine yourself out of the box and having the breakthrough you so desire. Meditate in that and not in your limitation and your struggles within that box until you get God’s imagination of your way to fulfillment. Step out and obey God’s instruction without doubting. Should you doubt, call Jesus for help. He is ever present and ready to help you.
Fear not. If you can SEE that you can step out of the box to your desire, then you can. If your mind can conceive it, then you can have it with Jesus by your side.
PRAY: Dear Lord, teach me to step out of the boat and walk on the water to come to You.
