August 8. Isaiah ch 38-40
TALKING OF THE SOUL
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 NIV
GOOD DAY. We need to take a close look at the soul of man because that is who the man is and it is the state of his soul that determines his well being. In the scripture above, the spirit is put first, the soul next and the body last; we do not see the spirit and the soul because they are both housed in the body but what the body does is determined by the two unseen parts.
The spirit is the power that produces work or moves the person. It does not need any information, it just works on the information presented to it.
The soul is the center of information, emotion and will of man. Information in the soul is like fuel in the tank of a vehicle. It is like the pilot of the system. Information comes to the soul from the outside world depending on what the soul is fed with. If for example you read, listen to world views and philosophies etc, and you toss them in your soul many times, they become the fuel for the spirit to burn to release power to effect the ideas.
If however, you keep the word of God in your soul and toss it around, the word of God becomes the fuel for the spirit to work with and manifest. God spoke of how we are to feed the soul; “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8 KJV.
You are to toss the word of God in your soul day and night. That is the practical meaning of meditation then you will have GOOD success. Whatever word you toss in your mind day and night is the word that is actually stored in your mind that becomes fuel for the spirit and which will be the instruction the spirit will work with when need be. The soul should be guarded very diligently and deliberately fed with pure words of God so that your tank will have infiltrated fuel. Bad word stored in your soul will produce bad success. Tomorrow, we’ll look at the spirit
Think on this and use it to assess the word stored in your mind.
PRAY: Open my eyes dear Lord to see the words I have stored in my mind.
