THE THREE LEVELS OF RELATING WITH GOD 2
“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: The closet level is the closest level of relationship with God. Mankind has bastardized the relationship that best demonstrates it. It is the relationship between husband and wife. Husband and wife should be naked with each other and not be ashamed but the nakedness of husband and wife is not confined to the two of them in so many cases. Where is your inner room? Your heart is your inner room. It is not a physical four wall room. Jesus demonstrated it when a woman caught in adultery was brought to Him. “They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.” John 8:6-8 NASB1995
He withdrew into His heart to listen to God. The question was tricky as they backed it up with the Law. It took Jesus to withdraw to His closet even though He was in the midst of all of them to hear wisdom from God His Father.
In the closet, we meditate; we rob thoughts with the thoughts of God. This is where most of us do not understand how to meditate. Simply put, it is robbing your thoughts with the thoughts of God until He impresses what you are to do or say in your circumstance. One day, I was very angry and felt insulted because three younger people ganged up against me to give false evidence. I wanted to speak terrible words in anger but I robbed my thoughts with God’s thought that says ‘be angry and sin not’. I asked the Holy Spirit what I was to do. He said ‘you will hold your peace and I will speak. You won’t have to fight back.’ I agreed and kept quiet. The Holy Spirit addressed one of them through me in a way that didn’t need any anger on either side. No one knew what went on in my inner room but God acted. Tomorrow, we shall consider the third level.
PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for making me conscious of my inner room. Help me to consciously filter thoughts that stay in my inner room.
