THE TWO LEGS OF PRAYER

THE TWO LEGS OF PRAYER

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:31‭-‬33 ESV

GOOD DAY: We pray a lot at least in my part of the world. Long and short term corporate prayers are organized by churches in particular and private prayers of different levels are also arranged by individuals most with fasting. In spite of all these, we record high levels of unanswered prayers. I have had my own share of unanswered prayers and I kept asking the reality of John 5:7 and Matthew 7:7-11. This led me to the search for wisdom needed in prayer. Important as what we shall eat or wear are, they are things that God automatically provides for all. That is leg one. The second leg is seeking the kingdom of God. Where is the kingdom of God? Jesus gave the answer this: Jesus was once asked by the Jewish religious leaders,

“When will God’s kingdom come?” Jesus responded, “God’s kingdom does not come simply by obeying principles or waiting for signs. The kingdom is not discovered in one place or another, for God’s kingdom realm is already expanding within some of you.”  Luke 17:20‭-‬21 TPT

King James’ version says “the kingdom of God is within you.” This means that we are to seek the state of our inner man where the kingdom of God is. Issues of life are decided from inside a man and that is where the kingdom of God is. What the man believes is therefore very important. This is what we should seek. Our hearts must be in right standing with God in power, love and sound mind. When we believe in God and seek Him diligently with our heart, everything we need is added to us. When we seek the kingdom of God within us, then we will know His perfect will and that will is established on earth as it is in heaven or in the spirit.

PRAY: Dear Lord, teach me to seek and to know Your kingdom and seek after it in me.
