October 12. Zechariah ch 10-12
THE WAY OF ADDITION
“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

GOOD DAY: I experienced our scripture today in beautiful ways. It has been my greatest and deepest lesson in not worrying. Recently, I had no money to spend and I did not want to bother anyone to give me money. This might sound simple when you want to think that I can easily ask anyone but when you know that others are passing through financial challenges of their own, then it is not worth it adding to their burdens. Well I prayed and sought first what God will have me do and his righteousness dropped in my heart. The meaning of righteousness then came to my understanding. It is doing whatever God asks me to do. As I was looking at what I could do outside writing, a friend’s daughter called to ask if I could babysit for her so she could attend a course outside her station for a week. I agreed even at such short notice and she gave me some money in appreciation that covered my pressing needs. I then knew that the way of ‘addition’ is not the way of laziness or doing nothing but doing what God brings to your way and thought. For any need that we can have and pray to the Lord to meet, He has His way of fulfillment which He will transmit to us through our thought or opportunity. To some sickness, it might be ‘shed weight or exercise or drink more water etc’ The bottom line is, learn to listen to God for He will speak peace to you. “I will hear what God the Lord will say; For He will speak peace to His people, to His godly ones; But let them not turn back to folly.”
