what fruit?

July 11.         Psalm ch 109-118

WHAT FRUIT?

A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Matthew 7:18-19 NIV

GOOD DAY: Jesus while talking to His disciples said false prophets will be known by their fruit but The Holy Spirit expanded this fruit issue that identifies people more to me. You know what, thoughts  bear fruit, in facts, your thoughts are you. When some thoughts enter your mind and you entertain them, they trigger anger, unrest, sorrow, envy, lust, greed, competition, self centeredness etc in your mind. Some thoughts put you in a fighting mode. Such thoughts are bad trees. They take you away from Christlikeness.

Some other thoughts however, trigger love, joy, peace, unity and the like in your heart. These are good trees that you should nurture. All things start from the mind. These good thoughts come from the Holy Spirit and should be nurtured.

At these hard times, various bad thoughts will enter the mind, some of them even sounding harmless but as a child of God if they are not from Him, your soul will be disturbed. Any thought that disturbs your soul should be dumped. This sounds easy but it is the  arrow way. It is self denial.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 NIV

The peace of God is the rule.

I remember that the prosperity message when it was fully rooted aroused greed and lack of contentment in people. People started demanding for more and looking for more by any means. The ministers now encouraged people by saying the sign of godliness is having riches! They displayed  their wealth as signs of God’s blessings and approval. This is not necessarily so. This is the summary by Apostle Paul.

“and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” 1 Timothy 6:5-7

Whatever thoughts and deeds you cannot say openly, it is evil except you have sold your conscience to evil.

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.” Ephesians 5:11-12

Dear Lord Jesus, let me experience your peace and joy so I will know when they are guiding me.
