why the godly suffer

August 6.    Isaiah ch 32-35

WHY THE GODLY SUFFER

“And war broke out in heaven, Michael [the archangel] and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought, but they were not strong enough and did not prevail, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. [2 Pet 2:4; Jude 6] And the great dragon was thrown down, the age-old serpent who is called the devil and Satan, he who continually deceives and seduces the entire inhabited world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. [Gen 3:1, 14, 15; Zech 3:1; John 13:2; 2 Cor 11:3; Rev 20:8] Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom (dominion, reign) of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come; for the accuser of our [believing] brothers and sisters has been thrown down [at last], he who accuses them and keeps bringing charges [of sinful behavior] against them before our God day and night. [Job 1:6-11] And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death. [Zech 3:1-10; Rom 8:33, 34] Therefore rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them [in the presence of God]. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you in great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time [remaining]!” [Is 44:23; 49:13]”. Revelation 12:7-12 AMP

GOOD DAY: I have often wondered why godly people who believe in Jesus Christ suffer so much. You can hardly point to any believer who is not facing challenges now or who has not had serious challenges in the past. One then wonders where the promises of Christ that they believe and base their lives on stand. Christ never promised a trouble free natural life but He promised us His presence to be with us through it all. The dynamics of challenges is stated in our verse for meditation today. It was first played out in Job. “Then Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not put a hedge [of protection] around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands [and conferred prosperity and happiness upon him], and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth Your hand now and touch (destroy) all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face.””  Job 1:9-11 AMP

Satan insinuated that Job would deny his faith in God if God removed all the temporal benefits from him. God permitted Satan and Job’s faith in God did not shake. A lot of insight into how we can dialogue with God is in Job’s encounter. Now Satan tries believers to see if they will renounce their faith in God. Whoever will be faithful to God will not fear death. This end time, we overcome Satan with the word of our testimony and the blood of Jesus and holding on to our faith even in the face of death.

PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, I ask for Your strength to resist Satan in any trial he may bring my way.
