TASTE AND SEE: Working out your salvation (1)
“O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” Psalms 34:8 NASB1995
GOOD DAY. How do you taste to see that the Lord is good? It is by obeying what He says in His word. I had a practice of tasting the Lord with:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:6-8 NASB1995
I was faced with a situation that gave me anxiety. I prayed and started giving thanks for the answered prayer. However, thoughts contrary to what I wanted kept bombarding my mind. It was then that the Holy Spirit took me down to verse 8. He asked me to write out an honorable, true, pleasant and good report about my request as if it had been granted. I should dwell on this my good report and counter the not honorable, not good report and thoughts not worthy of praise coming to my heart. I obeyed the instruction to dwell in them. I imagined my desire fulfilled and thanked God. I felt like it was already done and in one year, it manifested in a miraculous way. In one year, I never got tired nor shift my focus from the good report I was dwelling in. Now I can tell you that I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. Join me in the journey of tasting the Lord and send testimonies of your experiences.
PRAY: Dear Lord, give us an understanding of how to taste You.
