your greatest influencer

September 7.        Ezekiel ch 4-6

(Apologies. There was a mistake from Sept. 3 to 6 in the one year bible reading)

YOUR GREATEST INFLUENCER

“And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I will get well.” But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” At once the woman was made well.” Matthew 9:20-22 NASB

GOOD DAY:  An influencer is someone who affects or changes the way that other people behave. Do you know who your greatest influencer is? It will surprise you. IT IS YOU. Until you choose to change, no one can have a lasting influence on you. Because you are your greatest influencer, it is good to understand the process of being influenced. When I realized this years back, I started to make decisions that keep my happiness level high no matter the weather.

To be influenced, you need to hear or watch someone closely for some time. You have to admire the person. Social influencers try to keep themselves in your focus until they occupy the seat of your ability to influence yourself. YOUR THOUGHT IS YOUR SEAT OF INFLUENCE. Your thought speaks to you and counsels you. It is what you choose and how you choose to think about issues that influence the state of your mind and direct your life. For this reason, you need to choose what and who you listen to. Once a thought from anyone is allowed to be rooted in your mind, then that person takes your place at the seat of influencing you. I chose to have the word of God influence me so I fill my mind with the Word of Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul puts it this way: “The word of Christ must live in you richly. Teach and warn each other with all wisdom by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” Colossians 3:16 CEB

The word of God must dwell in you richly. It is the word of who dwells in you that counsels you and that is your influencer. Some people have the word of world experts on world affairs dwelling richly in them so they find it difficult to be as shifting as the world dictates and this leads to frustration and depression. The lady in the meditation for today said to herself that touching the hem of Jesus’ garment will work her healing. She must have heard how Jesus was healing the sick. So learn from her to fill your heart with the words of Jesus until it becomes your thinking.

PRAY: Teach me dear Lord how to make You my influencer in all I do. May Christian’s imitate You and be the living bible that the world reads in Jesus name.
